This is where you make the potential client feel seen. Most photographers either skip this entirely or go too generic with something like “Thanks so much for reaching out!” That kind of opener doesn’t build connection, it just fills space.

The goal here is to acknowledge them in a way that feels personal, and then introduce yourself in a way that goes beyond credentials. Not just how long you’ve been shooting, but why you love this work. One genuine sentence about what drives you does more for trust than a full paragraph of experience bullets.

Warm enough to create connection, confident enough to establish trust. That balance is everything, and there’s a specific way to strike it.

Part 2: Clear Next Steps for Booking

This is where most inquiry emails fall apart. Photographers dump information (pricing, portfolio links, availability) and then leave the client to figure out what to do with it. No direction and no invitation. Just a pile of content and a silent prayer that they follow up.

Potential clients are busy and easily distracted. If the path forward isn’t obvious, most of them won’t create one themselves. They’ll mean to come back to it and then they won’t.
